5km service road & parking – Port of Douala
Cameroon
The challenge
Development of 5 km of service roads and a 20,000 m² paved parking area for trucks in the downstream zone. The project uses Neoloy® Geocell technology to stabilize mangrove soils, cutting material needs and generating around 30% cost savings.
How we responded
Deployment
In the downstream zone of the Port of Douala, RoadVision completed the development of 5 km of service roads and a 20,000 m² truck parking area. The project relied on Neoloy® Geocell technology to reinforce highly compressible mangrove soils, reducing the volume of imported fill required. This approach ensured a stable platform for heavy truck operations while delivering close to 30% cost savings.
Results
- Reduced replacement materials
- Cost savings ~30%
- Stable and durable heavy truck parking
- Adapted to sensitive mangrove environment
Testimonials
“The Port Authority of Douala entrusted us with building parking areas and roadways in a mangrove zone. By using Geocell technology, we were able to stabilize the soil, cut down on replacement materials, and achieve nearly 30% savings on the overall pavement cost.”
